The company was co-founded originally in Australia in 1995 by John Snare and Rachel Kelly, who had a vision of creating beautiful and sustainable clothing that would have a positive impact on both people and the planet.

The brand initially started as Braintree Clothing, named after the historic market town of Braintree in Essex, England. Braintree Clothing focused on using sustainable and eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, and hemp to create stylish and comfortable clothing for men and women.

In 2017, Braintree Clothing rebranded itself as Thought Clothing to better reflect its values and commitment to sustainability. The name change also marked a new chapter for the brand, as it expanded its range of products and continued to innovate in the sustainable fashion industry.
