Thursday between 4 and 5am (GMT) there will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse 2023 in Aries. The sun that is currently in Aries will move to Taurus shortly after as will the New Moon. It is also occurring at the 29th degree of Aries in conjunction with the North Node in Taurus AND squaring Pluto! 

Eclipses have a lasting effect on us and this one will be a powerful one. The upcoming total eclipse is said to affect us for the next 18 months. 

What does an eclipse mean in astrology  

With all eclipses something ends, and something begins. They can bring about big news, this can come in many forms good and bad, but it will be news that will change your life going forward. Once we go through an eclipse change it cannot go back to what it was before.  These changes can happen instantly, or they can build up over the months with each eclipse prompting change.  

In astrology eclipses signify a time of transformation, according to astrologers they can be quite a dramatic shift. They are to highlight the areas of your life that need to change. 

Difference between a Lunar and Solar Eclipse  

A solar eclipse is when the moon stands between the sun and the earth. A lunar eclipse is when the earth stands between the sun and the moon.  A lunar eclipse will have minimal sunlight and will therefore become invisible. The disappearance of the moon in astrology represents things coming to an end.   

A solar eclipse represents the mark of new beginnings, new opportunities or the potential for change.  They often signify the beginning of a new phase in our lives that can bring growth, unexpected opportunities or new challenges. 

A lunar eclipse is more emotional as it is focused more on endings rather than beginnings. It may be subconscious patterns that you have developed that you need to break. Things from the past may rise to the surface, if they do it is important that you acknowledge and learn from it.

Why is the upcoming SOLAR Eclipse so important 

Firstly, the Total Eclipse happening on the 20th of April is a rarity, a hybrid eclipse is said to only happen around 7 times a century.  

A hybrid eclipse is a rare type of solar eclipse that changes its appearance as the Moon’s shadow moves across the Earth’s surface. 

As it is promised by astrologers this is eclipse is to take you out of your comfort zone. Fortunately, the sun enters Taurus a few hours after the eclipse, this will allow us to take a step back and reassess issues. 

Let’s have a look at the events that we have coming 

• A new moon in Aries (The second new moon of the month) (A Rare New Moon) 
• It is a Total Eclipse  
• Which is also a Hybrid Solar eclipse  
• This is also apparently a first for an eclipse in Aries 
• The New moon and the sun then move into Taurus on the same day 
• The day after mercury goes retrograde 
• The Sun and moon in Taurus will then square Pluto (This will cause a halt, prepare for upcoming reality checks) 

Are you in alignment? 

The North Node’s position in Taurus is helping heal the collective by bringing the chaotic past few years to a still.  It will encourage us to connect more deeply with ourselves.  As the North Node moves toward Aries, there will be more emphasis on the self!  

These changes may feel uncomfortable and may make us feel very unbalanced, but it is important to remember that these are changes that need to happen. The emphasise on this total eclipse is a collective call for our soul’s purpose. 

This is very eventful which should reflect as a very eventful time on earth. This is why astrologers are so excited about the upcoming eclipse.
