1. A STATMENT JACKET
Seen as we have very little “No Jacket Wearing” weather. A statement jacket is now my main essential! So much so that I have a wardrobe just for Jackets.
We all need at least one! I can put on anything basic, a grey Body-con dress or Jeans and a T-shirt and the jacket is the one piece that will bring everything to life.
A statement jacket is currently my favourite essential!
2. THE FAMOUS LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Inspired by Coco Chanel 1920s, but still completely correct. Get the right Black dress and it will serve you well. It will be the perfect go to when you cant find nothing to wear. it is slimming for days that you feel bloated.
Team it with a statement Jacket and heals for nights out. A Blazer and brogues for Work. A cardigan and Trainers for casual wear. Or just on its own for about almost anything. its that reliable.
3. A PAIR OF WELL FITTED JEANS
I advise you pay whatever you can afford on a good pair of jeans that fit you well. They are also a versatile item for your wardrobe. Team with a pair of heals for a drinks at the bar or a T-shirt and trainers for day wear.
if the jeans fit you well you will always feel comfortable, another item good for when you don’t know what to wear. With a good pair of jeans you can throw on any old T-shirt tuck it in and you will be ready for the day.
I personally make Black jeans my Essential just so i get more colour choices to team them up with. I find there are some “going out” tops that I don’t feel fit as well with Blue jeans as they do with a pair of Black jeans.
4. PENCIL SKIRT
Preferably not black, this wont be an everyday wear, but if you have an event that you need to dress smart for it will sever its purpose. it can work as a good back up to Christenings, weddings, a Job interview anything that requires you to dress smart. Team it with a nice blouse and you will be good to go. Even if it is a T-shirt you have tucked in it will still dress you up for work etc.
I would say not a black skirt and more on the grey or blue side, or a colour that suits you like plum or cream, just to keep it smart. I find black pencil skirts don’t have the same effect and I am a Black wearing Fan!
5. A SHIRT, T-SHIRT OR BLOUSE
the above will vary on your personality and you current life situation. Even though I own many many T-shirts I would make a blouse my essential. As i like to have a nice blouse to team up with a pencil skirt or trousers for them dress up occasions. Even if it is just a mothers day meal with my Mum. I always have a T-shirt to throw on but i don’t always have a Blouse which is why I have made it an essential.
These are my 5 Essential Wardrobe pieces, in the next week I will give you My 5 Essential Footwear as for me they need a category for themselves. I have come to realise that if your footwear is on point then it don’t matter what you wear.
Have a good day 🙂
